Interesting development

This week a man who's name may very well grace the text books of countless law school before this decade is out put his pen to paper and signed into law a measure that may very well reshape our society as a whole. South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds this week signed into law the most comprehensive ban on abortion in America since the land mark 1973 Roe v Wade decision which up held the legality of abortion on demand.
This law bans virtually all abortions in the state with the only exceptions being in case the mothers life is in danger. This will of course become a major case before the supreme court. It may very well be the law that sparks the case that overturnes Roe. As a conservative feminist who is totally opposed to abortion on demand It will be nice to live in a country that values the lives of our unborn children.
I find it ironic that we will go out of our way to make sure that people who committe the most hanous crimes, and do the most horrible things to there fellow man are given there basic human rights ( and of course we must do this because thats what makes us decent human beings) but we think nothing of ending the existance of a innocent unborn child who's sole crime in live was to be concevied at an inconvient moment in his/her mothers life.
So I look forward to watching as this whole thing unfolds over the course months and years and can only hope that the good men and women on the supreme court do the right thing.
