Perspective

I was at a gas station last week, and while I was standing in line to pay for my overpriced gas and my Mt. Dew ( which I believe God himself created) I happen to over hear the young women complaining about how she had gone over her cell phone minutes and was going to be charged extra on her bill. She continued to wine and moan about it. I also heard the grumbling of others complaining about gas prices, the heat, or about how they had to put off there vaction for this reason of that. It was at that moment that I was thankful to be an American.

I was glad that I lived in a country that was so prosperious that people had these kinds of problems to complain about. I realized that the overwhelming majority of those in that little store in Michigan and in America herself would have food in there bellys, a roof over there head, clothing on there back, clean air and water to drink ( by clean I mean it doesnt give you typhod or scryvy) that they can call there President all the fowl names in the book ( usually blaming him for the gas prices) and not have to worry that the police will drag them from there home and lock them away in a gulog.

While I am sure these peoples problems are important to them, I wondered if they ever stop and say " Hey all in all Im ok" I have been to and seen parts of the world where people must work 18 hours a day everyday just to put food in there bellys. Where the water may kill there children. Where ruthless men can assualt them and there familys without fear of punishment. Where if they where to call there President even half the names we call ours they and likely there familys would be drug away and shot. Yet most of those people who have a lot of reasons to complain didn't, rather they work, and pray and thank there God for what they do have. Once you've seen that, having to wait a few extra minutes in a convience store line will seem a whole lot less important.

While we should always strive to make our lives better, I believe that those of us who have been bless with first world birth should take time out of our busy day filled with MTV, IPods, Playstations, jobs that feed and cloth us, and be greatful for what we do have. After all where Americans, thats enough to put a smile on my face every morning. But maybe thats just me!
