Have a glance

I can't help but be in wonder sometimes at the awesome beauty of this planet that we all call home. It struck me last evening as I was working at my desk, I took a moment to glance out my window. See from my window I have a lovely view of a lake. As I took in the beauty of the lake, of the trees and buildings around it I realized that no matter how lovely we can make things in this world. No matter how creative we get with art, music, movies, or even people ( a nod to the plastic surgeons in the room) nothing can measure up to the sear natural beauty of nature.

While I am a big fan of technology, of its uses and of the convience it provides
in our lives I would remind everyone to take just a second and enjoy the tapestry that awaits us out our very windows.

Once Again

Once again the democrats are making fools of themselves over the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito. Let me be honest about it, they oppose Judge Alito because he is a conservative and was appointed by President Bush. However from a legal point of view Judge Alito is extremely qualified to be a memeber of the Supreme Court. He is extremely intellegent with a brilliant legal mind. His tenure on the third circuit court of appeals has been first rate. He was rated by the American Bar Association as extremely well qualified. To the democrats this used to be the Gold Standard on judicial appointments. It used to be that if a nominee was rated as well qualifed by the ABA then he/she was confirmed. Now its all about ideology, its about "what does this person think on issue A,B, and or C" Quiet frankly it doen't matter what a nominees opinions on issues are, what does matter is the nominees understanding of the constitution, his/her grasp of the law, and their proper judical temperment.
So as an American I am upset that the leaders of one of the most prominate political parties in our country would pollute the senate in such a way. As a political creater, as a conservative republican I hope that the democrats continue this illogical, rage oriented, foolish behavior. Because as long as they do they will continue to be the minority party. So for our sake lets hope they never pull there heads out of the sand and realize that the best politics is good policy.

Gamer dead

http://ctrlaltdel-online.com/index.php#970

I would say that I was surprised when I read the comments made by Mr. Jack Thompson, however comments such as his have become far to common within certain sector of the " leadership" of the christian community. I, as a christian am appauled at the hard heartedness and callus disrequard for the suffering and pain of there fellow man. Many have forgotten or never realized that one of the major tenants of christianity is to be a Good person. Not just a good person to other christians, not just to people who's lifestyle you agree with, but to be a good person everyday. It is taught by christianity to love your fellow man. Not just those in your cell group, your womens/mens fellowship or those who attend your church or believe the same as you but to Love your fellow man with distinction.
So if I could give some advice to those who call themselves christians ( aka. Christ like) and yet think like Mr. Thompson, Mr Falwell, or Mr. Robertson. I would say this, take a few minutes out of your busy day of looking your noise down at everyone else and reread the words of christ. Let them sink in and maybe soften your stone hearts. To those who are Christians in the image of christ, who try to be good people everyday. Who love there fellow man even if they think there misguided. Continue to be an example and to try and teach the miss guided souls.

Mr. Ford

I recently read in the news that former President Gerald R. Ford was hospitalized last week for pneumonia. I have read President Ford's biography and find him to be an interesting man. His politics places him firmly in the center of the poltical spectrum. On some issues he would even be considered liberal. Yet his character, and core decency is what definds him to me. He is a smart gentle man who after the termoil of watergate did his best to heal the wounds of a bitter land.He brought to the White House those midwestern sensiblities.
Ideas like duty, honor, and a respect for country. He also brought something that his predecessor lacked and that is compassion. Compassion for his countrymen, compassion for his opponents and even compassion for his predecessor. It was this last act of compassion that may indeed have cost his the election.
While political I align myself with President Reagan, the respect and admiration I hold for this fellow Michigander who once held the highest office in the land is indeed as deep as the Great lakes. So to President Ford I wish you a quick and speedy recovery and many many more wonderful years.

Moving In !

Well most of our stuff is moved, now we are in the process of organizing and getting things set up. The phone is one, the cable guy comes this week and the internet next week. My room is getting organized nice. I'm trying to decide where to put certain pictures and other wall decorations. Its starting to feel like home. My roommates have moved a few things in but are for the most part still in transit.
The view from the living room windows is of the lake, there are large boats docked there, as well as a lovely view of the entire lake shore. I can't wait for summer, until I can go walk along the shore, take pictures and even paint a few lake scenes it will be nice. Also the bustle of the tourists and all of the events will be awesome.

Apartment update

Well today I go and sign my lease on my apartment. I am so excited,I can't wait to start moving in. I am looking at various types of furniture. It will be nice to be in my own place again, to have my things about me and to know that there mine.
Being twenty-eight years old I plan to decorate with some style, not your typical bachelor pad crap. No large spools as coffee tables, or road cones as decor. I do thank God that I was raised to have a little pit of style and class. Nothing that bothers me more then to see someone with a nice house or apartment and they fill it with shear crap and/or take no time to decorate properly.
Yes yes straight guys care about that stuff, No really we do!
So I go today and sign the lease , start a new adventure. As with all adventures Im sure there will be some ups and downs and bends in the road but I still look forward to it.

work, work, work

While I have always been a propoenant of being in business for one's self I must say that it can be a pain in the ass. Especially if you have a business partner! Who's soul purpose is to give you shit. But he's going to make me my million and is also my best friend so I keep him around.

Waiting and waiting

Waiting to hear wheather you got excepted to an apartment is nerve racking. I am waiting, patiently for the most part. In my head Im planning out how I shall decorate my bathroom. What colors will be in my bedroom. Wheather to get a desk in cherry wood or dark pressed wood?
I wonder about the art I will hang on my walls? As an aspiring hobby artist I look forward to creating the works that will dress my walls. To my surrealist phase, to my impressionist phase, to my cubism.
I also ponder on my neighborhood, the hockey arena across from my building. As a midwesterner I have a respect for that fine canadian sport and look forward to catching some games. The idea of being footlose and fancy free again after spending a year of my life in hell's waiting room, is very appealing.
Getting involved in local civic organizations and politics. Attending city council meetings, holding the elected officals feet to the fire. So as you can tell Ive been busy in my head.

Birthday post

Today so happens to be my twenty-eight birthday. So that being the case I've decided to do a annual birthday post. I am now offically in my late twenties. Ouch just two years away from the big 30 ! However this year is looking good, I am finally home from Iraq ( happy dance) . I am in love with a great women. I am getting a nice posh apartment in a medium sized city. I will be able to work for myself, I own my own software companie. Which has the possiblility of making me a fortune and allowing me to retire very early.
Also the prospects of the GOP in this years elections seem to be looking up. Michigan may even elect it's first black senator in modern history, and he is a republican. I may also begin setting the stage for a possible run for city commission in a few years.
All in all I am looking forward to the up coming year, to finally having my life back and getting to start actually working towards my goals. So yeah to 28, viva 2006.
